Donny van de Beek finally makes Everton return following injury nightmare

It’s been another disastrous season for Donny van de Beek, who will be walking away from this campaign thinking where the last two years went.

Van de Beek joined United in 2020 with great expectations but he barely featured for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer before being sent out on loan by interim boss Ralf Rangnick.

The 25-year-old joined Frank Lampard’s struggling Everton side but immediately made it into the Toffee’s starting eleven, only to have his season disrupted by injury in March.

A thigh injury has kept him out of action since then, missing their last 11 games. The Dutchman is, however, now back in contention as he was named on the bench for tonight’s showdown with Crystal Palace.

He will be hoping to end this season on a positive, keeping Everton in the Premier League before returning to Manchester United this summer.

Erik ten Hag, the incoming manager at the club, will have injected some life into the much-maligned midfielder.
