Manchester United are back in the race for Champions League football following their 3-2 win over Norwich on Saturday, with rivals Tottenham and Arsenal both losing.
Ralf Rangnick’s side looked down and out after last weekend’s loss against Everton but a hat-trick from Ronaldo has ensured that a glimmer of hope remains in their season.
The German manager made a couple of unexpected decisions, and one of them was to play without a recognised ball-winner in midfield. Instead, Paul Pogba was trusted with the deepest role. In fairness, it certainly wasn’t his worst performance in recent months.
As the crowd readied themselves to sing ‘Viva Ronaldo’ on repeat, there were no signs of any affection towards Pogba, who was boo’d by the Old Trafford faithful as he made his way off the pitch, as seen below.
In quite extraordinary fashion, the France international responded to the boo’s by cupping his ear towards the Stretford end – a decision which showcases his fractured relationship with the fans.

SN’s verdict…
The 29-year-old has had this coming for quite a while now. Six years after returning to the club a big-money move, he’s set to depart on a free transfer for the second time in a decade.
There were protests against the Glazer family ahead of the game and Pogba is a symbol of their negligent ownership. Several years of flirting with other clubs and his mysterious absences has done nothing to form a bond with the supporters.
