Manchester United are in for a busy summer and links to potential signing have already begun, with several players at the club looking likely to depart this summer.

A new manager isn’t in place yet but plans to strengthen the squad have already begun, with the Old Trafford hierarchy hoping to have the next permanent boss in place sooner rather than later.

United are likely to add a forward to their squad this summer, with Edinson Cavani looking likely to leave. There are no suggestions that Mason Greenwood will be available soon and there are doubts over the futures of Cristiano Ronaldo, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford.

Benfica star Darwin Nunez, 22, is one of the most in-demand strikers in Europe and United could look to the Liga Portugal to find their next star striker.

According to The Athletic, Manchester United are one of three clubs leading the race to sign the Uruguay international, with Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain also interested.

Benfica are said to be open to a sale at a whopping €70m, with initial conversations set to be completed in the coming weeks. The Portuguese giants are looking to complete a deal sooner rather than later in order to get a replacement through the door.

Nunez has scored 31 goals in 36 appearances this season, with five goals coming in the Champions League.
