Borussia Dortmund targeting available Man United attacker

Borussia Dortmund is reportedly interested in two Premier League attackers, including Manchester United winger Anthony Martial.

That’s according to a recent report from 90min, who claims the French attacker, as well as Chelsea’s Timo Werner, has admirers at the Signal Iduna Park.

Although becoming an instant hit at Old Trafford following a debut goal against rivals Liverpool back in 2015, the 26-year-old has pretty much struggled ever since.

Failing to score 20 league goals in any of his seven seasons at United, the 2019-20 campaign saw the Frenchman put in his best numbers (17 league goals) but those numbers quickly fell the following season after netting just four times in 22 games.

Following what has been a hugely inconsistent few seasons, this January saw the club allow Martial to leave on loan.

Currently with Sevilla until the end of the season, the winger’s time at United certainly appears to be coming to an end and with just two years left on his contract, this summer could see the Red Devils look to cash in while they still can.

When it comes to permanent suitors, Dortmund would certainly seem like the more likely candidate to stump up the funds required to prise Martial away from United.

Despite being valued by Transfermarkt at just over £25m, it is likely United will want to recoup as much of the £54m they paid Monaco seven years ago and that would push Sevilla out of the picture who just cannot compete, financially, with the likes of Dortmund.

  1. he’d have to take a wage cut if he has any hopes on joining BVB.well run clubs like them would never offer the insanely high wages Man U offers to such mediocre players.
