Manchester United forward edging towards La Liga move

Edinson Cavani looks set to leave Manchester United this summer.

The Uruguayan’s contract will expire at the end of the season, yet you won’t hear many fans suggest he warrants a new deal at the club.

At 35, Cavani is coming to the end of his career, and after getting a new deal last year he has not played anywhere near enough football.

According to The Sun, Cavani would prefer a move to Spain with Real Sociedad believed to be leading the race to sign him this summer. The report adds that he is wanted by River Plate but the Argentine side look set to miss out.

Cavani’s limited availability this season has made it almost appear as though the striker is prioritising international football at the latter stages of his career, which is fair enough, but we don’t need more players like that at United.

Like a number of forwards who have signed for United post-Ferguson, Cavani arrived aged well into their 30s, and you’ll find many fans in agreement that it’s a shame he wasn’t bought sooner.

Cavani is a top striker and it’s misfortunate that we only got the tail-end of his playing career. He was adored during his time at Old Trafford.
