(Photo) Anthony Elanga makes senior international debut in World Cup qualifier

It was a night to remember for Anthony Elanga after making his senior international debut for Sweden in a 1-0 win over the Czech Republic.

Robin Quaison’s extra-time winner was enough to eliminate the Czech Republic and send Sweden through to a World Cup play-off against Poland.

Elanga replaced Emil Forsberg after 115 minutes to earn his first international cap – 5 minutes after Sweden took the lead.

The United academy graduate has gone from strength to strength since Ralf Rangnick took over the first team. Our interim manager deserves credit for that, but it’s Elanga who is putting in the hard work.

Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof started the game at centre-back and he will need to get prepare himself to stop Robert Lewandowski if Sweden are to qualify for the Qatar World Cup.

This comes as yet another milestone for Elanga in his breakthrough season.
