Inter Milan interested in Manchester United veteran star

Inter Milan are targeting a move for Edinson Cavani in the summer.

The Uruguay star will be available on a free transfer at the end of the season when his Manchester United contract expires.

Italian outlet Calcio Mercato claim Cavani is among a list of players Inter Milan may target in the summer, with his experience valued by the Serie A side.

Cavani has not always been available to United this season, with the striker seemingly prioritising international football at the latter stage of his career, so it would be stretch to say we’ll miss him when he departs.

It makes me think twice before calling Cristiano Ronaldo a ‘problem’ — unlike some pundits — because United do not have an alternative answer to his goals this season.

United will still need to dip into the market for a goalscorer, preferably someone younger, who can lead the line in Ronaldo’s absence.

At 35-years-old, Cavani probably has a year or two left in Europe, but a move back to South America has always been on the agenda.

The former PSG striker was strongly linked with a move to Boca Juniors last year before extending his stay at Old Trafford.
