Manchester United join race to sign in-demand Bayer Leverkusen winger Moussa Diaby

Manchester United are one of three Premier League clubs believed to be tracking Bayer Leverkusen winger Moussa Diaby.

The 22-year-old has been in top form this season, with 16 goals and 9 assists in all competitions.

According to German reporter, Patrick Berger, Manchester United are interested in the French international but so are Arsenal and Newcastle. He suggests that Leverkusen have already identified a replacement after monitoring Carles Perez from AS Roma.

Berger tweeted: “Manchester United, FC Arsenal and Newcastle are interested in Moussa Diaby. The French winger from Bayer Leverkusen (16 goals/9 assist this season) has no release clause. Price tag: €60m. As a potential successor Bayer monitoring Carles Perez from AS Roma.”

United could look to freshen up the squad under new management in the summer because we can’t pretend that the current team is ready to compete for the biggest honours with Man City and Liverpool.

Newcastle are understood to be willing to offer around £50m for the former PSG talent, as per the Daily Mail, but Leverkusen would want closer to £75m because there is no release clause in his contract.

That’s a lot of money and I really don’t think that Diaby be seen as a priority. That is not to say I don’t think United will sign a winger in the summer.

Diaby previously told L’Equipe that he left PSG to start more regularly.

Do you think the French winger would be a good acquisition for United?
