Manchester United to ban fans responsible for throwing bottles at Diego Simeone

It got heated at Old Trafford last night.

There was a lot of disappointment at the full-time whistle as Atletico Madrid knocked Manchester United out of the Champions League.

The team didn’t do enough to beat Atletico Madrid over two legs and the referee at Old Trafford had an absolute nightmare. Diego Simeone put his players up to their old tricks and his reaction from the touchline at full-time angered sections of the ground.

A few fans stepped out of line by throwing objects at Simeone when the Argentine celebrated wildly before sprinting towards the tunnel. He claims that he wasn’t aware that bottles were thrown in his direction.

However, according to Jamie Jackson, who covers United for The Guardian, the club will be reviewing CCTV footage to identify those responsible. Jackson adds that the fans who threw missiles will be banned for three years.

The journalist tweeted: “At final whistle at Old Trafford, Tuesday, objects were thrown by some home fans at Diego Simeone, Atletico Madrid’s manager. Its understood United are reviewing CCTV footage to identify the supporters who did so. Those responsible will be banned for three years.”

We didn’t like it when Leeds United fans threw objects at Anthony Elanga not too long ago, so we’re not going to excuse this behaviour.

I called Simeone every name under the sun but throwing stuff on the pitch is just daft.
