(Video) James Garner’s crossbar hitting free-kick leads to late Forest equaliser

Manchester United loanee James Garner was inches away from scoring a cracking free-kick on Saturday when Nottingham Forest drew 2-2 with Stoke City.

The midfielder, who has been receiving plenty of plaudits in recent weeks, notably after his impressive performances in Forest’s wins over Arsenal and Leicester City in the FA Cup.

Garner also scored in the 2-0 win against Blackburn Rovers on Friday night. That was his second goal of the season and he came very close on Saturday to adding to his tally.

In his 29th appearance of the season, Garner hit the woodwork with a brilliant strike in the 88th minute. They were losing 2-1 and down to 10 men but, thankfully after the ball hit the crossbar, Forest reacted quick enough as Scott McKenna ensured Ryan Yates headed it home.

It’s clear that with the experience he has gained this season, United will be gaining a better footballer next season and that is what you call a successful loan spell.

Forest knew what they were getting this season after having Garner on loan last season.
