Should Mauricio Pochettino get the Manchester United job this summer, he will have a hand in transfer dealings at the club, with there already being suggestions in the press that he wants to sign Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane.
Tottenham rebuffed Man City’s efforts last summer, including an offer worth £130 million, despite Kane pushing hard for the move and almost going to war with chairman Daniel Levy. It won’t be easy dealing with them — it never is — and one has to think how Kane would play in the same team as Cristiano Ronaldo?
The England international shouldn’t be blamed for wanting to try something different and better himself as a footballer. The lethal goalscorer has never won a trophy and it would be a blow if he was stuck at Spurs for the rest of his career. Sure, he’ll get to break lots of club records, but he will never see a league title.
According to The Telegraph (£), Pochettino is expected to push for United to try and sign Kane.
Manchester United have some way to go before we’re back winning titles. That will be the next manager’s job, so maybe Pochettino thinks he will need Kane in order to achieve that. The club would be stupid not to listen if they plan to appoint him this summer.
At the end of the season, Kane will only have two years left on the deal he signed in 2018, when Pochettino was still in charge and their strong relationship was well documented then.
