(Video) De Gea’s shocking uncontested distribution vs Burnley

Although nobody can deny David de Gea’s shot-stopping abilities, there is a lot to be said for his distribution.

I have noticed it a lot in recent seasons that the Spaniard’s distribution has been an area for concern, with it often adding unnecessary pressure to an already shaky defence. De Gea saves that back four more often that not but that is not to say there aren’t any major flaws to his game.

When I look at it closer, especially this season when he’s won club player of the month three times, I can see why he’s not being selected for Spain.

It doesn’t come as a surprise anymore.

This is not De Gea bashing, by the way. I’m a huge admirer for all everything he’s done for United over the years but watch below for an example of what I’m talking about.

De Gea receives a backward pass from Luke Shaw before humping the ball forward — uncontested — to absolutely nobody.

The only player in the ball’s direction is Cristiano Ronaldo, who was miles offside, and this is not a matter of skill or technique but judgement.

I know mistakes are made in every game but I thought this is an example of something we see far too often from De Gea.
