Manchester United legend Roy Keane set for Sunderland interview

Manchester United legend Roy Keane could return to manage his former side Sunderland.

Sunderland sacked Lee Johnson after their 6-0 defeat to Bolton Wanderers last weekend.

According to the Daily Mail, Sunderland want Keane back as manager, after his successful stint saw them return to the Premier League in 2007 with a Championship triumph in the bag.

Keane has not managed a side since Ipswich Town in 2011, taking assistant roles at the Republic of Ireland Aston Villa in the meantime, but at least now he has lined up an interview to return to management.

The Black Cats are currently third in League One, two points off Wigan Athletic in second and five adrift of Rotherham United. He primarily works for Sky Sports and ITV as a TV pundit these days but spoke to Gary Neville about a return to management in a recent Overlap interview.

Keane never fails to mince his words, so we would love to see him back in the dugout again.
