Mason Greenwood released on bail after arrest

Manchester United footballer Mason Greenwood has been released on bail after being arrested on a string of offences, including rape and making threats to kill.

The striker, 20, spent three nights in custody after being held on Sunday after cops removed him from his move in Bowdon, Greater Manchester.

Manchester United were left with no other choice but to suspend the player from training and matches until further notice.

However, Greater Manchester Police can confirm that Greenwood has now been bailed.

A statement said (via The Sun): “A 20-year-old man arrested (on Sunday 30 January 2022) on suspicion of the rape and assault of a woman has been released on bail pending further investigation.”

The case, as the statement reads, is pending further investigation.

Detectives were given more time to question Greenwood in recent days following social media images and videos posted online. The posts have since been deleted from the social media page in question.

The GMP have yet to formally name the suspect in any of their statements.

More updates when we have them.
