Tahith Chong is closing in on a return as he continues his recovery from injury.

According to the official Manchester United website, the Manchester United starlet is on track after having to return from his loan spell at Birmingham City, where he was getting first team minutes under his belt.

United say that Chong is, “still a few weeks away from being able to join with full training again but this is clearly a positive step in the right direction as he continues his rehabilitation.”

The Netherlands youngster returned to United for his recovery and Birmingham City manager Lee Bowyer has spoken of his determination to welcome back Chong.

However, there was an understanding that, once Chong had received the appropriate treatment he could return to Birmingham City for the remainder of the campaign, as per Birmingham Live. That means this news could come as a boost for the 17th placed Championship side.

Stretty News believes that Chong could return to Birmingham has early as Monday and after two weeks of assessment, they hope he will be ready for game time.

Bowyer also signed Teden Mengi on loan for the remainder of the season and the defender has made six appearances for his new club.
