Manchester United Women’s team went to WSL leaders Arsenal and knocked them out of the Continental League Cup on their own patch. Many thought it couldn’t happen but it did.
The win puts United into the semi-final after Alessia Russo’s winner.
Head coach Mark Skinner has come in for criticism this season after replacing the brilliant Casey Stoney, but he is starting to get better results now with United winning their last 5 matches.
Moreover, the Reds have managed five clean sheets in as many games — scoring 15 goals by 8 different goalscorers.
This is very much a team in harmony at the moment and we hope they can go on to win something this season, but we shouldn’t ignore the fact this was Arsenal’s fifth defeat in six games.
It was a massive goal from Russo, although Katie Zelem’s delivery from a free kick was second to none.

Arsenal didn’t create much throughout the game and the girls will be looking forward to fighting for a place in the final.
