Paul Pogba impresses Ralf Rangnick following return to United training

Ralf Rangnick confirmed that Paul Pogba returned to Manchester United training on Monday.

The French midfielder took United fans by surprise after returning to training almost a month ahead of schedule when Cristiano Ronaldo’s tweet revealed that Pogba is back early.

“Paul Pogba had his first day of training with the whole group yesterday and in the first training session he showed what an extraordinary player he could be,” Rangnick told reporters, as per Manchester Evening News.

“Pogba won’t be available for selection in either of this week’s games, though.”

Pogba has been sidelined with injury since November, so he has yet to make an appearance under Rangnick.

United fans will be intrigued to see how what role he will play in a United trying to press their opponents more.

Those fans will have to wait until after the upcoming international break — but it’s clear that the manager was impressed by how Pogba played in training yesterday, and he came across excited by the prospect of having the midfielder back earlier than scheduled.

“I don’t know,” Rangnick said when asked about Pogba’s contract. “I can’t answer, I’m not dealing with this.

“What you could see from the very first day in training yesterday, he’s present, he’s physically present, he’s mentally present, what I saw in training yesterday was very promising for the future and I’m looking forward to having him available in two weeks time after the international break.”

We have yet to see Pogba at his best in a red shirt but we will soon see if Rangnick can get more out of him.
