Manchester United make enquiry over holding midfielder set to be out of contract this summer

Manchester United have reportedly enquired about the availability of Denis Zakaria.

This news comes in tweet form courtesy of Jonathan Shrager, a United fan who shares a lot of accurate intel with his followers across social media, with the Reds not alone in their interest as Borussia Dortmund, Liverpool and Bayern Munich all keep tabs on the Swiss international.

Zakaria’s contract at Borussia Monchengladbach is set to expire in the summer and reports out of Germany in recent weeks suggest that the club have given up on the holding midfielder, which in theory is exactly the type of player United should be chasing this month.

Maybe if United can shift a few players this month, they will be reevaluate the market.

With the midfield this season being below bar, yet again, there will be even more questions about it come the summer.

United aren’t expected to be buying in the January market, but there’s always a chance that if the right player becomes available — particularly a defensive midfielder — they could make a move for him.
