Axel Tuanzebe ends spell at Aston Villa to join Napoli on loan

Manchester United have made a decision to send Axel Tuanzebe on loan to Napoli for the remainder of the season, which sees his loan spell at Aston Villa cut short after getting insufficient game time under Steven Gerrard.

Although Tuanzebe had previously spent two years at Villa Park, it didn’t work out this time around, as he found himself not getting picking for the starting line-up following Steven Gerrard’s arrival. Things may have worked out differently under Dean Smith, who he had a good relationship with, but now it’s time to experience football in Italy.

The Manchester United defender has only played eight minutes of Premier League football since Gerrard became manager in November, whereas he started six league games under Smith.

But Gerrard recently stated his plans to keep Tuanzebe at the club, though United have rightly decided against that to send the young defender abroad instead.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Serie A outfit Napoli have reached a verbal agreement with Manchester United for the loan of Tuanzebe until June. The deal is believed to include a €500,000 loan fee.

Di Marzio, as cited by Romano, state that the loan deal does not include a buy option at the end, which means Tuanzebe is likely to return to United in the summer.
