Gary Neville reacts to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer being sacked by Man Utd

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has officially been sacked by Manchester United following a three-year tenure, having first taken charge of the team in December 2018.

The Norwegian manager signed a new three-year contract with the club over the summer but has been relieved of his duties just five months into his new contract. According to The Times, Solskjaer will receive £7.5m as part of his compensation package.

In an official statement made by the club, Manchester United confirmed that Solskjaer would immediately step down from his role as manager. Michael Carrick, who has been working as a coach under the Norwegian, is set to take charge on an interim basis.

Sky Sports pundit and former Manchester United captain Gary Neville has reacted to the news on social media, thanking Solskjaer for the work he has done.

Unfortunately, the point of no return was reached several weeks ago but Solskjaer remains a hero at the club. As Neville points out, prior to the tough run United are currently on, Solskjaer carried himself with dignity and made fans believe again.

Solskjaer turned this United side into the most likeable team since Sir Alex Ferguson left but unfortunately, it didn’t go as planned.
