Immediate reaction as Manchester United sack Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Manchester United have announced the departure of manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Solskjaer, who took charge of the side following Jose Mourinho’s departure in 2018, has been relieved of his duties following a torrid run of results, three years later.

The Red Devils’ latest horror show came on Saturday afternoon at the hands of Premier League strugglers Watford who thrashed them 4-1 at Vicarage Road.

Having lost five of their last seven matches, in all competitions, United’s season hangs by a thread and in an attempt to save it, the club has announced that they have bid farewell to Solskjaer.

Struggling to get the best out of a world-class squad and seemingly helpless when it comes to tactically ensuring the side remain competitive, Solskjaer appeared to be a man very much out of his depth.

Now relieved of his role as manager, Solskjaer will be able to take some much-needed time away from the game before he makes a decision on his future.

United, on the other hand, will need to begin the search for a new permanent manager as a matter of urgency.

We would like to thank Solskjaer for his commitment to the club and wish him all the best in whatever he decides to do next.
