With the midfielder now set to depart the Red Devils if his playing time does not improve once the January transfer window opens, Newcastle United appear to have positioned themselves at the front of the queue.
It has been claimed that the Geordies are offering United £25m but the club’s hierarchy would prefer to loan him rather than sell him permanently.
