Man United on red alert as AC Milan midfielder snubs latest contract offer

If Manchester United are serious about landing a top defensive midfielder, they’ll undoubtedly be paying close attention to the current contract standoff between AC Milan and Franck Kessie.

Kessie is out of contract with AC Milan next summer and with the January transfer window fast approaching, the Ivorian will be eligible to speak to clubs outside of Italy as early as the New Year.

Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has recently reported that the midfielder has rejected AC Milan’s latest attempts to get him to sign a new deal.

The journalist claims the player would like around €9m-per year but his employers have only offered €6.5m-per year.

“We are at a difficult point,” Di Marzio told Italian media. “The more time passes, the more complicated it becomes to find an agreement. The gap is important.

“Milan has come to offer six million, six and a half million, with the bonuses even exceeding them.

The request is higher, the request is close to 9 million. A very high request. If the request is not lowered. of the player at these figures, it becomes difficult to find an agreement.”

Since his arrival from Atalanta back in 2017, Kessie has gone on to feature in 196 matches, in all competitions, for the Rossoneri, directly contributing to 47 goals, along the way.
