Marcus Rashford has broken his silence after taking a break from social media following Manchester United’s embarrassing 5-0 defeat to Liverpool last weekend.
The 23-year-old had just returned from a lengthy spell on the sidelines, scoring two goals in two games, but could not stop his side from helplessly being overturned by their bitter rivals.
Jurgen Klopp’s side were by far the superior team and took control of the 90-minute affair from the first minute as they proceeded to put five past United at Old Trafford for the first time in the Premier League era.
Rashford has now taken to social media to address supporters following the thumping, admitting his silence was down to being embarrassed by his side’s performance.
I can’t lie you haven’t heard from me on here because as a United fan I didn’t really know what to say after Sunday. I was embarrassed. I am embarrassed. Our fans are everything and you didn’t deserve that. We’re working hard to try and fix this. We have to redeem ourselves.

“I can’t lie, you haven’t heard from me on here because as a United fan I didn’t really know what to say after Sunday,” he wrote on Twitter, as seen above.
“I was embarrassed. I am embarrassed. Our fans are everything and you didn’t deserve that. We’re working hard to try and fix this. We have to redeem ourselves.”
Rashford is a devoted United supporter himself and his side’s lackluster performance will hurt him as much as any supporter. An authoritative performance against fellow strugglers Tottenham on Saturday will go a long way towards repairing the anguish from last week.
