Manchester United have set aside a huge war chest for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ahead of this winter’s transfer window, according to reports. The Norwegian manager oversaw huge investments in his squad over the summer, with Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane, and Cristiano Ronaldo all joining the club.

According to the Daily Star, the Norwegian manager will have a £70m budget available to him in the next window but only on one condition – if Manchester United are challenging for the Premier League when the window comes around in January.

The handsome transfer kitty will reportedly be available for the manager if the club feels they are in a genuine position to challenge for this year’s Premier League crown.

There are questions over Solskjaer this season, having ended the last two campaigns without a trophy. The latest defeat at the hands of Leicester was particularly embarrassing, having equalised in the 82nd minute only to lose by two goals.

The drab loss to Brendan Rodgers’ side leaves Manchester United with just 14 points after eight games – that’s after winning four out of their first five games.
