Manchester United player ‘loving football again’, open to leaving on permanent transfer

Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe has endured a troublesome two years since returning from a season-long loan spell from Aston Villa in 2019.

The 23-year-old, who missed has missed large parts of the last two seasons through injury, is now back at Villa for another season-long loan and has impressed so far. The centre-back has played in a three-at-the-back formation, as opposed to being a back-up for seasoned pair Ezri Konsa and Tyrone Mings.

According to the Birmingham Mail, a source close to the player has stated that Tuanzebe has ‘found his smile’ and is ‘loving football again’.

Furthermore, the report claims that Tuanzebe would one day be open to completing a permanent switch to the West Midlands club. Following his return from the arrangement next year, Tuanzebe will only have one year left on his existing deal at Old Trafford.

With Harry Maguire and Raphael Varane the first-choice partnership in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s head, a 24-year-old Tuanzebe could look elsewhere for opportunities next year.
