(Video) Solskjaer explains team selection vs. Villarreal amid celebrations from some fans

Manchester United are back in action tonight and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team selection, as per usual, has caused quite a stir on social media.

The Norwegian manager has previously been reluctant to deviate from his preferred midfield duo of Scott McTominay and Fred but the infamous pair have been broken up as United welcome Villarreal to Old Trafford.

The news of Solskjaer’s attacking lineup was celebrated by some Manchester United fans on social media, with a start for Jadon Sancho also being welcomed.

The manager has now explained his thinking behind the team, insisting although some were forced due to injuries, it’s a side he believes is capable of getting the job done.

“Well, we pick players that we think are going to play well together. Of course, we’ve got a couple of injuries at the back and we’ve put a team together that we think are gonna cause problems for Villarreal, we also know we have to defend against them,” he said before the game, as seen above.

“It’s an important night for every one of us, it’s a big game. But it’s a great opportunity because this is what Manchester United is all about. Champions League nights, full house, a bit of pressure which we should embrace. That’s when they step up, that’s what you sign up for when you sign for United – big games and big moments.”
