‘He is the best example’ – Raphael Varane showers Man Utd star with praise

Raphael Varane’s arrival at Manchester United was seen as a shock considering the likelihood of the 28-year-old joining going into the transfer window was low.

Varane, who has won four Champions League titles on top of the 2018 World Cup, had one year remaining on his contract at Real Madrid before United swooped in to sign him.

So far, he has been impressive to the point where after less than a handful of appearances, he is already making a difference and it’s showcased in the stats.

It was, however, another former Real Madrid player who would prove to become the biggest signing of the summer. Cristiano Ronaldo sealed a sensational return to the club towards the end of the window and since he signed on the dotted line, several United players have been eager to praise the 36-year-old.

Varane played alongside Ronaldo at Real Madrid and has reserved some special praise for the forward, describing him as ‘the best example in the world’.

“I think he is the best example in the world in terms of work ethic and winning mentality,” Varane exclusively told Sky Sports in an interview.

“Playing with this type of player, you improve every day. If he is still playing to such a high level at his age, it’s because his work is amazing. I’m very happy to play with him.”
