(Video) Ronaldo scores v Young Boys after stunning outside-of-the-boot pass from Fernandes

After last season’s disappointing campaign in the tournament, Manchester United are back in action in Europe’s elite competition. The Champions League has scarcely been a comfortable stage for the club in recent years but the latest wave of optimism under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could change that.

After a promising start to the season, which has seen the club pick up 10 points from a possible 12, Manchester United made the trip to Switzerland to face high-flying BSC Young Boys.

Solskjaer named a strong starting team, including Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho whilst welcoming back Victor Lindelof and Fred to the side.

The Portugal international was once again the star of the show as Manchester United took an early lead against the Swiss giants. Ronaldo, who had been showing off some neat touches in the opening exchanges, latched on to a beautiful outside-of-the-boot cross from Bruno Fernandes to give his side the lead.

The goal is Ronaldo’s third in just two games but the superstar forward will be hoping to add to his tally as the game goes on.
