West Ham star to miss Manchester United clash after red card

Michail Antonio’s red card for West Ham against Southampton has handed Manchester United an unexpected bonus ahead of their next Premier League match.

The 31-year-old is now playing his seventh season for West Ham and seems to really have hit the best form of his career, scoring four goals and registering three assists in four games, since the start of the season.

But Antonio is set to miss West Ham’s upcoming match against Manchester United due to a suspension after picking up two yellow cards against the Saints on Saturday.

United, meanwhile, had a better day at the office as Cristiano Ronaldo returned to Old Trafford and scored twice in a 4-1 win over Newcastle.

“Stupid”

It doesn’t look like the Red Devils require any extra help with Ronaldo in the side, although it’s always better to face teams without their best players, and David Moyes wasn’t too happy with Antonio at full-time.

The former Manchester United manager branded Antonio “stupid” over his late red card in Saturday’s draw: “Look, it can happen football,” he said, as quoted by The Independent.

“Having been booked the first time, he was stupid to lunge in but these things in football happen, so we’re not going to make too big a deal of it.

“He’s got himself sent off and at the time it looked like the referee probably got it right.
“We always knew these sort of things could happen and they have done today.”
