(Video) Cristiano Ronaldo scores his second goal to regain Man Utd lead

Manchester United were largely frustrated by Newcastle United in the first of half of their return to the Premier League following the first international break of the season.

Steve Bruce’s side insisted on sitting low and were untroubled in defence for periods of the game but were eventually undone. Cristiano Ronaldo, who was the subject of most of the afternoon’s build-up, scored just before the interval to give United the lead.

The goal, a rebound from a speculative Mason Greenwood effort, is his first for the club since for over 12 years. Celebrations were, however, muted swiftly as Newcastle equalised shortly after the break.

It didn’t remain all even for long as Cristiano Ronaldo continued to woo the Old Trafford faithful on his return to the club. After conceding the goal, United immediately ramped up the pressure.

Luke Shaw drove with the ball through the heart of Newcastle’s side before slotting the ball into Ronaldo’s path, who made no mistake with his left foot.

The goal, which completes a double within roughly an hour for the 36-year-old, marks a sensational comeback to Manchester United.
