Cristiano Ronaldo marked his Old Trafford homecoming with a man of the match performance, scoring twice as Manchester United beat Newcastle 4-1 in the Premier League.
From start to finish – today has been about one man – and Manchester United got the business done against a frightened looking Newcastle side.
Steve Bruce’s side didn’t know how to deal with United’s attacking trio of Jadon Sancho, Cristiano Ronaldo and Mason Greenwood. It made for great viewing as a red knowing these players have yet to get a proper run of games together.
United fans were delighted to see Ronaldo back in the red shirt, scoring a brace, and he’s been voted as man of the match with 85% of the votes. Second in the voting was Paul Pogba, as per ManUtd.com, and goalscorer Bruno Fernandes finished third on 4%.
Ronaldo admitted to being ‘super nervous’ as he walked out at Old Trafford before kick-off, but he thrives on such pressure and it was clear to see today.
Welcome back, Ronnie!
