Manchester United star Alex Telles has returned to training following a long injury layoff. The left-back started the first pre-season game of the summer but has been absent since due to a bothersome ankle problem.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed that Telles would be out for ‘a few weeks’ in July but with recovery taking longer than expected, the Brazil international has now finally resumed training at the club.

The news will come as a boost to Solskjaer, having already let Brandon Williams join Norwich on loan for the season. Furthermore, Axel Tuanzebe also completed a temporary switch to Aston Villa last month.

Luke Shaw is the clear first choice for the Norwegian manager but there is now room for rotation as the Champions League and Carabao Cup fixtures start coming.

Diogo Dalot, another full-back, was rumoured to be leaving the club this summer but the Portugal international ended up staying and is likely to challenge Aaron Wan-Bissaka for a starting place.
