Ronaldo could wear two different numbers at Man United including iconic no. 7 shirt

Following the club’s recent official announcement that they have reached an agreement to resign club legend, Cristiano Ronaldo from Juventus, Manchester United are now preparing to welcome the Portuguese superstar back to Old Trafford.

Currently in his native Lisbon, believed to have just completed his medical, Ronaldo is now expected to join up with his new teammates sometime before the Red Devils’ next domestic match against Newcastle United on 11, September.

However, while fans are eager to see the world-class forward back in red colours, there is a lot of interest building over what shirt number the 36-year-old will take at Old Trafford.

Having built a massively successful career and brand around the number seven, a number which is iconic at the red half of Manchester, fans will be hopeful of seeing the former Juventus attacker reclaim his old number.

Ronaldo wore the number seven shirt for Manchester United during his six-year stay earlier in his career.

However, according to a recent report from the Daily Star, the number seven shirt may not be the only one Ronaldo wears during his second spell at United.

It has been noted that due to striker Edinson Cavani already occupying the iconic number, Ronaldo’s chances of wearing that the seven shirt for domestic matches is slim – his employers would need to apply to the Premier League for ‘special dispensation’ – something that has never been granted before.

However, despite being seemingly unable to wear the number seven shirt in the Premier League, due to Champions League numbers yet to be submitted, the Daily Star believe the Portugal international could yet wear his iconic number while competing in Europe.
