Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reacts to signing Cristiano Ronaldo

Earlier this week, Manchester United broke the internet when they confirmed that an agreement has been reached with Juventus for the transfer of Cristiano Ronaldo. The official United website was down twice inside an hour.

Since then, the dust has settled and fans are coming to terms with a potential reunion in less than two weeks. Completion of the deal is subject to personal terms, visa, and medical.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is, as you would expect, delighted to have the world-famous forward back at the club, 12 years after he was sold for a then world-record fee. The Norwegian boss expressed his delight at having the five-time Ballon d’Or winner back before today’s game against Wolverhampton.

“Of course the fans have been excited for the last couple of days, we all are of course,” he is quoted as saying by the official Manchester United website.

“He has had such a great career and he has been here before. Hopefully we can just finalise the paperwork and announce it. He is going to give everybody a boost, of course.

“I played with him, he’s a great player, he is a top human being, he is a top professional, so he will give everybody in the squad and everybody around the club a buzz.”

Raphael Varane’s reception at Old Trafford just over two weeks ago will be remembered for a long time but the one reserved for Ronaldo will go down in history books.

The transfer window closes on Tuesday next week and should everything go as planned, a debut on September 11 against Newcastle is very much a possibility.
