Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hails first-team star following Wolves win

Speaking after his side’s narrow 1-0 away victory over Bruno Lage’s Wolves, Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has hailed the performance of number one goalkeeper David De Gea.

United came under fire for large parts of Sunday’s match against Wolves, however, looking to become the first side in English footballing history to go 28 matches unbeaten away from home, the Red Devils did extremely well to come away victorious, thanks to a late  Mason Greenwood winner.

Wolves were unlucky though and had it not have been for an incredible double-save from De Gea in the game’s second-half, Lage’s men would almost certainly have opened the game’s scoring.

Speaking after the match, as quoted by BBC, when asked for his thoughts on his Spanish star’s effort, said: “The first one, he was in the right position, but the second one’s special, how he reacts and gets a strong hand to it. I have to say David has come back with a determination in his work and I’m delighted for him.”

There have been major question marks surrounding whether or not De Gea is still capable of being United’s number one.

However, with backup shot-stopper Dean Henderson currently ruled out due to recovering from COVID-19, very few people can deny that De Gea hasn’t taken his chance to kick the new 2021-22 season off with a bang and remind all his critics just how talented he really is.

  1. Though there was alot of confusion among the players around formation. Pogba looked out of place in the centre of midfield and is more effective when he’s playing in a wider role. Varane looked slow to react at times but Im sure it will take him time to get up to form .De Gea was outstanding and showed form of old .
