Van de Beek happy with ‘clarity’ under Solskjaer, says agent

Donny van de Beek’s agent has admitted his client is happy with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s latest assurances.

Last summer’s arrival watched on from the sidelines as Solskjaer chose to use Jadon Sancho, Scott McTominay and Jesse Lingered from the bench as United drew 1-1 against Southampton on Sunday.

It was the latest in many snubs for Van de Beek, who has yet to warrant a place in the team, though many on social media have complained over his lack of game time — creating all sorts of barmy narratives.

I would argue that it’s a weird consensus by some suggesting that playing Van de Beek more would solve all of our problems in midfield. I wouldn’t have started him over Nemanja Matic at the weekend and that is something many have argued.

However, speaking to Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf, Guido Albers outlined that Van de Beek is happy with the ‘clarity’ that Solskjaer provided.

“Everyone within the club knows that Donny cannot have another season like last year,” the player’s agent said.

“In preparation, clarity would be provided about his role. The fans had already embraced him before, but the most important thing is that the trainer has now provided clarity in the English press.

“We are happy with that. And I assume that Donny will play a lot in one of the positions in midfield in the coming period.”

But not just yet?

Van de Beek will be sitting by his phone on Friday hoping for a call-up to the Dutch side, but now with Louis van Gaal in charge there’s bound to be some doubts since he hasn’t played a lot of football with his club.
