Man United focused journalist teases fans with hugely exciting transfer update

There isn’t long left in the summer transfer window and if Manchester United’s hierarchy is going to deliver their fans a new midfielder, they’ll need to act quickly. However, despite the time-sensitive nature of making a fourth signing, United-focused journalist Andy Mitten has excitingly warned fans that the Red Devils could still yet make another signing.

Despite already signing goalkeeper Tom Heaton, defender Raphael Varane and winger Jadon Sancho, last weekend’s Premier League match against Southampton made it painstakingly obvious that the one position the side urgently need to reinforce is the central midfield role.

Providing fans with some hope that a new player could be bought in before the transfer window closes at the end of the month, Mitten, who spoke on the ‘Talk of the Red Devils‘ podcast (quoted by Express), said: “I know that Manchester United like Declan Rice.

“West Ham want Jesse Lingard. Manchester United want money and Declan Rice. The Sullivans [West Ham’s owners] are not averse to doing a bit of wheeling and dealing.

“A week ago, I was told don’t bet against someone else coming in at the club. They clearly want someone else to come in but the finances might restrict that.”

Fans will certainly be hoping that. Mitten’s reveal proves to be accurate, but as he rightfully pointed out and a sentiment that has also recently been echoed by Fabrizio Romano, is that the club must first offload before they’re able to re-recruit.
