Rennes ready to cash in on United target Eduardo Camavinga

Eduardo Camavinga has a strong chance of leaving Rennes before the transfer deadline.

Journalist and transfer guru Fabrizio Romano claims Rennes are ready to cash in, with Camavinga unwilling to sign a new contract with the Ligue 1 club.

The midfielder’s contract expires next summer and Rennes are said to be demanding €35m (£30m) for his signature.

Every United fan will be asking if the Reds will make a late move for one of Europe’s best young players, but it will more than likely come down to whether we can shift some fringe players first.

The 18-year-old is already a France international and has made more than 80 appearances for Rennes.

The Mail ran an article two weeks stating that their belief was United are still pursuing Camavinga.

However, Camavinga has been named on the bench for Rennes’ last two games, and he was criticised by manager Bruno Genesio who said the contract saga was getting in the way of his football.

Genesio told RMC (translated by GFFN): “I think a lot of things are happening in his head. He’s not able to express his full potential, which he hasn’t lost. Sometimes things happen in your head which means it doesn’t work as well in the legs.

“Now, the only explanation is that he has to resolve his situation. As long as he sits on the fence…”

It sounds like Rennes have a bit of a Pogba-esque situation on there hands but the young Frenchman could be the perfect prospect to fill the midfielder’s shoes at Old Trafford, if with the help of Mino Raiola he decides to move on at the end of the season.

While United’s need for another midfielder is clear for all to see, I think signing the young French midfielder would be a long-term investment when fans are calling for something more readymade.

AS claim Real Madrid would like to sign him on a Bosman next summer.

Meanwhile, L’Equipe stress PSG are interested but would need to sell players first.
