“You have to show more” – Paul Pogba reacts to disappointing 1-1 draw at Southampton

Manchester United put in a disappointing display against Southampton and left the encounter with just one point, despite dominating affairs against Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side had most of the ball but struggled to break the home side down, with the Saints often breaking up United’s pattern high up the pitch.

Southampton took the lead in the first half but a goal from Mason Greenwood evened the scores before United tired. The visitors were visibly fatigued as the game reached a climax.

Paul Pogba was Manchester United’s standout performer in the game, and the Frenchman made history when he assisted Greenwood’s equaliser. Now, the 28-year-old is the only player to register five assists in the first two weeks of a new campaign.

The France international has delivered his verdict on the game, insisting that the squad will not lose focus despite the disappointing result on the south coast.

“I think we deserved more, but you have to show more also on the pitch,” he is quoted as saying by the official Manchester United website.

“After the goal we scored we dropped a little bit, we lost control of the game a bit and that’s why I think we didn’t get the second goal.

“I think we dropped a few points today, we get one point, but we stay focused. Obviously, we’re happy we didn’t lose and we get this point with positivity, but we know this game, I think at the end of the season those two points are going to be very important.

“So we didn’t lose, we got one point and the next game away we know that those points will be very important for us and we don’t want to give them away.”
