Flamengo confirm signing of Andreas Pereira on loan

Flamengo have confirmed the signing of Manchester United midfielder Andreas Pereira on loan. The 25-year-old featured regularly for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side this summer but has now made the move back to Brazil on a temporary basis.

Pereira spent last season on loan with Serie A side Lazio but struggled to make an imprint in a new league, with an extended stay under Maurizio Sarri seemingly not an option this year.

A move back to Brazil could aid his chances of earning a recall to the international fold, having failed to make an appearance since his senior debut in 2018.

Flamengo confirmed the deal on social media, as seen above, and according to journalist and transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, the Brazilian club will not pay a loan fee for the arrangement but will instead share his salary with Manchester United.

There is also said to be an agreement in place for Flamengo to buy the midfielder next year for €20m, with the Old Trafford club being entitled to 20% of any future sale.
