Video: Alvaro Fernandez scores brilliant equaliser v Chelsea U23’s

Manchester United U23’s were in action on Friday evening as they made the trip to Stamford Bridge. The encounter was the first away game of the season after earning a point in the curtain-raiser against Leicester City last weekend.

The two sides went into half-time level in a heated game but after having a man sent off after roughly an hour, the home side took the lead after converting a questionable penalty.

Manchester United did, however, get back into the game with just three minutes left on the clock after a brilliant solo run by defender Alvaro Fernandez, who made no mistake in getting his side back on level terms.

The left-back, who joined the club from Real Madrid last year, received the ball on the edge of the penalty area, breezed past a couple of Chelsea players before letting loose on a fierce shot, leaving the goalkeeper with no chance.

The result leaves Neil Wood’s side with two draws from as many games as they prepare to take on another tough season in the Premier League 2.
