Edinson Cavani cleared to return to training with Manchester United

Edinson Cavani has been told when he can return to training with Manchester United, according to reports. The Uruguay international was granted an extended break following his involvement in this summer’s Copa America.

The 34-year-old helped his side reach the quarter-finals of the tournament and has spent his holiday close to home but returned to Manchester recently.

Cavani’s willingness to be closer to his family was one of the main talking points last season as the former Paris Saint-Germain striker mulled over signing a new contract. In the end, he decided to stick around for another season.

His return from South America did, however, come with a mandatory quarantine period.

Now, he has been cleared to return to training with Manchester United on Tuesday, something the club has communicated to Cavani. That’s according to Manchester United insider Jonathan Shrager, who says that Cavani can resume preparations with the squad at ‘a certain time’.

It remains to be seen if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer opts to include him in the matchday squad against Southampton next week but any decision will come down to his fitness.
