Jadon Sancho on the bench: Confirmed Manchester United XI v Leeds

Manchester United are finally back in action in the Premier League and Leeds United are the opponents as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side makes their return to Old Trafford.

Following two pre-season fixtures at home, it will be the first time since March 2020 a match in front of a capacity crowd is played out at Old Trafford.

A title challenge is expected out of Solskjaer’s side after last season’s second-place finish and the Norwegian boss will be happy with the club’s transfer market so far, although he will likely be hoping to get at least one more player in before next month’s deadline.

Solskjaer has named a strong starting eleven for the visit of Leeds but there is no start for Jadon Sancho, who is named on the bench for the curtain-raiser.

Paul Pogba, who only has 45 minutes of football in his tank following an extended break, starts the game and is expected to take up a role on the left side of attack.

Further back in midfield, Scott McTominay and Fred start as Donny van de Beek drops to the bench, despite impressing recently. Anthony Martial could make his first Premier League appearance in over four months as he is named on the bench.

Full team: De Gea, Wan-Bissaka, Maguire, Lindelof, Shaw, Fred, McTominay, James, Fernandes, Pogba, Greenwood
