Manchester United are set to complete the signing of Raphael Varane this week after the defender completes a five-day quarantine, having traveled from Madrid earlier.
The 28-year-old defender has been active on social media, updating fans with his activity as he awaits clearance to leave his quarantine housing to undergo a medical at the club.
Manchester United saw off Everton in their final pre-season game of the summer last weekend, with Raphael Varane posting a picture of himself watching the game on social media.
Now, there is confidence at the club that an official unveiling for the France international could come as soon as this Wednesday, with the four-time Champions League winner set to become the club’s third signing of the summer.
There is confidence that Varane’s medical, signing and announcement can be officially completed on Wednesday, which would then allow him to train with the team on Thursday/Friday, opening up the possibility that he could feature in #MUFC’s matchday squad in season opener vs Leeds

That’s according to Manchester United insider Jonathan Shrager, as seen above, who also says that should everything go as planned, Varane could train with his new teammates for the rest of the week.
Although Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be on restricted time between then and the start of Manchester United’s season, completion of the deal this week will open up an avenue for Varane to feature in Saturday’s Premier League curtain-raiser against Leeds United.
