Man Utd star tells Solskjaer he wants to stay and ‘fight for his place’

Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard enjoyed an unbelievable resurgence on loan at West Ham last season, with the 28-year-old scoring nine goals and assisting a further four in just 16 appearances for the Hammers.

Lingard’s breathtaking half-season came after not making a single appearance for Manchester United, despite reportedly being fit for the entirety of the 2020/21 season.

After flourishing for David Moyes and helping them to a Europa League place, and earning himself two call-ups to the England fold, Lingard returned to Manchester United this summer to take part in pre-season.

Lingard has featured heavily in games, playing in all three of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s fixtures so far and according to The Athletic, clubs are interested in signing but there are yet to be significant developments.

It’s also claimed that despite West Ham being interested in particular, Lingard has told Solskjaer he wants to stay at Manchester United and fight for his place.
