Donny van de Beek to stay at Man Utd and fight for his place

Donny van de Beek endured a challenging first season at Manchester United and was often a spectator for the Premier League games. The former Ajax star made 19 appearances last term but started just four of them, with the majority of the 15 substitute appearances being 10-minute cameos.

Furthermore, the 24-year-old’s campaign was further dented after being forced to pull out of this summer’s European Championship with a groin injury.

Nevertheless, a new season beckons and if some of his teammates are anything to go by, a disappointing first season could be the catalyst for improvement. Victor Lindelof and Fred endured similar bows in the Premier League but recovered to become mainstays in the side.

According to The Athletic, Van de Beek has no intentions of leaving Manchester United this summer and the club has not signalled that they are ready to let him go, either.

One source is cited by the publication to have told them that Van de Beek has returned to the club with a ‘hunger and fire’ to make the grade at Manchester United, with another claiming that ‘even his eyes look sharper’ compared to the 2020/21 season.
