Earlier this week, Manchester United announced that it had reached an agreement in principle with Real Madrid for the transfer of Raphael Varane.
The defender, who has less than one year remaining on his contract at Real Madrid, is still in Spain and said his goodbyes to his Real Madrid teammates earlier this week.
The COVID-19 pandemic has put a spanner in the works for the France international, with travel arrangements taking a big hit due to regulations in the United Kingdom. Spain, where Varan will be making the trip from, is on the UK’s ‘amber list’, which means that the 28-year-old will have to quarantine for five days upon arrival.

Medical and contract signing are also scheduled next week, then Varane will be unveiled as new signing after Sancho.

Despite this, journalist and transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano has claimed that there are plans in place for Varane to travel to Manchester early next week, with Monday touted as a realistic possibility.
His medical is also believed to be scheduled for next week, although it is yet unclear whether he will be able to undergo his medical during quarantine.
