Manchester United are back at Old Trafford for the first time since May as they take on Brentford in their third pre-season game of the summer, having already faced Derby and Queens Park Rangers.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side took the lead after just 12 minutes through Anthony Elanga. A neat team move was finished off by the young Swede as he connected brilliantly with Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s pinpoint cross.

It was his second goal in as many games and his first at Old Trafford, having scored his first Premier League goal on the final day of the 2020/21 season.

The lead didn’t last long, however. Brentford equalised shortly after and the two sides went into half-time level. Solskjaer opted for just one change at the interval as Diogo Dalot made his return to the team after spending last season on loan at AC Milan.

Andreas Pereira, another player who returned from a Serie A loan, gave United the lead in the second half with an unbelievable 25-yard volley, cannoning in off the crossbar.
