Man United want to extend defender’s contract before Newcastle United make loan approach

According to recent reports, Manchester United’s recruitment team is keen to extend defender Axel Tuanzebe’s contract before loaning him out next season.

That’s according to a recent report from Sky Sports, who claims the young defender may need to go out on loan in order to gain game time, especially now the Red Devils have reached an agreement to sign Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane (ManUtd).

Tuanzebe, 23, is a product of United’s youth academy after joining all the way back in 2005.

Having now gone on to force his way into the club’s senior first-team, Tuanzebe has grown to prove himself as a more than reliable centre-back.

Despite his talent though, since making his debut in 2017, Tuanzebe has only made 37 senior appearances, in all competitions – not nearly enough if he’s to continue his development.

In an attempt to secure more playing time, Sky Sports believes United are open to allowing the 23-year-old to leave next season on loan.

However, before a move is sanctioned, the Red Devils would like to see the defender put pen-to-paper and commit to a new deal.

A recent report from the Telegraph claims Newcastle United are hopeful they can strike a deal with United over a possible loan for Tuanzebe.
